The Oxnard Chamber prides itself in monitoring local, state and federal issues that affect businesses. In an effort to effectively communicate such issues with members, the Chamber is hosting Timm Herdt, State bureau chief for Ventura County Star. Herdt has his finger on the pulse of the issues of California legislature and Sacramento happenings.

Timm Herdt has been a newsman a the Ventura County Star and its predecessor, the Star-Free Press, for 34 years. He has been a reporter, city editor, editiorial page editor and, since 1997 has been the Star's correspondent in Sacramento. His weekly column on politics and public policy runs every Wednesday on the Opinion page. He has won a number of awards for reporting and editorial writing from the California Newspaper Publishers Association, most recently for his reporting on the challenges of healthcare reform.
