Event Description: Channel Islands Maritime Museum Speakers Series Bridge Carney presenting Chronicles of the PT-107 Mr. Carney is a PT boat historian and PT model maker with special emphasis on the ELCO PT boats and specifically on the PT 157. His two books on the subject, written in collaboration with the original Skipper and torpedo man of the PT 157, cover the making of his highly accurate and detailed PT 157 model, which will be on display at the presentation! Mr. Carney will review the ELCO PT boat and its missions in the Pacific, as well as discuss the PT 157, its crew, and its assignments in the Solomon Islands. He will recount some of the more notable and harrowing missions for the crew of the PT 157 in the South Pacific during the summer of 1943. These missions include the 157’s skillfully executed rescue, in contested waters, of the PT 109 crew and its Skipper Lt. John F. Kennedy, would go on to become the 35th President of the United States. The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is open Thursday - Monday from 11-5pm. Located in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600’s, more than sixty world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions, and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime.
